Hi, I'm Graham.
I am a mom of three amazing girls, 11, 12, and soon to be 14, which means I am outnumbered and living in a constant group chat. I guess it is 4 girls, if you include our dog Rhody. I am also married to Quinn, who I have been with since we were basically kids, and he had been coming to Nantucket forever and very strategically convinced me to spend a summer here after graduating high school. It worked. Hook, line, and sinker.
That first summer, I lived for free in what can only be described as a former burger shack. No AC, no plumbing, unbeatable location. In fact there was no roof, until Quinn strapped some sails over the top. All my clothes may have been covered in mold by the end of the summer but it was the best summer ever…well, until I had my kids, of course…
After graduating college Quinn and I had to shift to COO status, Coastal On Occasion relegated to Summer Warrior status over the summer where we squeezed in as much island time as possible, turned into us eventually making the move here full time in 2020. Now Nantucket is home, and we feel incredibly lucky to be raising our family here.
Like most families on this island, our life is a constant mix of work, school schedules, sports, and trying to remember who is supposed to be where and when. It is organized chaos at best.
Professionally, I work in interior design, where success depends on people playing nice in the sandbox, communicating well, and working toward one shared goal.
I have also spent a lot of time on Land Bank properties over the years. I have logged some serious hours on the playground with my kids but mostly my time is spent running the trails that connect so much of the island. Those runs have been equal parts exercise, therapy, and problem-solving time, depending on the day. They have also given me a deep appreciation for just how special Nantucket is.

I am running for a seat on the Nantucket Land Bank Commission.
For the past 40 years, the Land Bank has done an extraordinary job preserving open space and protecting the character of Nantucket. Honestly, they have set the bar pretty high. But now, the Land Bank is at an inflection point. Many of the big land acquisitions have already happened, and the focus is shifting toward stewardship, access, partnerships, and long-term planning.
In other words, the job is changing. And that is what makes it interesting.
I am genuinely excited about this moment.
I believe there is a strong and important intersection between recreation and Land Bank properties, and this is a big reason I am running. These spaces are not just meant to be looked at, they are meant to be experienced. Thoughtfully. Respectfully. Maybe slightly out of breath on a long trail.
At the same time, we live on a small island, 30 miles out to sea, where weather and wind shape how and when we can use those spaces. Supporting year-round access to recreation, in ways that are consistent with the Land Bank's mission, is part of taking a long-term view of stewardship and community needs.
I want to help shape a clear vision and master plan that supports shared community recreation spaces while still protecting what makes these places special in the first place.
I also recognize that the Land Bank cannot solve every challenge on Nantucket. That would be a tall order for any organization, but it can be a strong and thoughtful partner. Through collaboration with other organizations, the Land Bank can lend a hand in ways that make a real impact without losing sight of its core mission.
I want to be part of crafting that next chapter, helping guide the Land Bank's vision for the next 40 years in a way that balances preservation, access, recreation, and community connection.
Because if the first 40 years were about saving the land, the next 40 are about how we take care of it, use it well, and make sure it continues to matter.

I am running for several reasons:
One of the things I love most about Nantucket is the ability to step outside and move through preserved land without ever getting in a car. That kind of access is rare, and it is worth protecting.
The Land Bank is not abstract to me. I use these properties all the time. They are where I run, think, and reset. They are also where my kids play, explore, and where Rhody inevitably decides she has her own plan.
Recreation is what first got me excited about the Land Bank. I believe these spaces should not only be preserved, but also thoughtfully used and experienced. There is a real opportunity to continue shaping how recreation and conservation can work together in a way that respects the land and serves the community.
As much as I care about recreation, I understand that serving on the board means representing the entire community. My personal priorities will not always be the priority, and that is exactly how it should be. This role is about listening, learning, and making thoughtful decisions on behalf of Nantucket as a whole.
With three girls, a husband and a dog I am very used to balancing competing opinions, urgent requests, and strong personalities. Sometimes everyone gets what they want. Sometimes no one does. Either way, you learn how to listen, stay calm (hopefully), and make a call. It turns out that skill set is just as useful at work as it is at home.
And like any group project, it works best when people communicate, show up, and pull in the same direction. I believe in collaboration, and in people rolling up their sleeves and figuring things out together.
Nantucket has given so much to my family. Running for the Land Bank Commission is one way I can contribute in a meaningful and lasting way.
